GRAPHICS [01/10/2013] - Final day of graphics (they’re only 2 day projects, unfortunately)! Today we scanned the images, so we could play around them on Photoshop. I’m a tad lucky, because I’m already slightly experienced with the program so I could get the most out of the time, than others and produced these two posters from the images we made yesterday (click here to see, remember to click on the images to see them bigger!). As you can tell, the first magazine cover I made is the 4th image and looks very similar, however there are many fine details that I changed to enhance the image such as the halftone pattern and saturating the reds. Also I played around with scale and colour with the guitar and the amp (I think that’s what it’s called?), flipping it to balance the whole piece. I added some text as a magazine title and really enjoyed playing with the type, italicizing the ‘m’ off the word ‘scream’ to give it an edge!
The second magazine cover is the 5th image, with added text, but in the font face ‘Times New Roman’. I felt the serif font added some elegance and edge to the piece, with the record player reflecting its class. Type was played with again to give it an edge. The image was mostly left alone, besides a Brightness/Contrast layer to enhance the image; this was done because I didn’t want to overwork the image and felt it was a strong piece without anything added. Feel free to message me how you feel about these magazine covers and tell me what you like about them!
All in all, a really lovely two days doing graphics; my one true love<333 I am very glad to have such an encouraging teacher, who is just as picky as I am (I had used Times on the first cover, but she wasn’t too keen on it and I’m glad I changed it! Hoping that the next days will be just as good!)
